Use Your Dental Benefits Before the End of the Year!

If you’re like us, then you’re surprised at how quickly 2021 is coming to an end. It’s hard to believe it’s already November! Around this time every year, we like to encourage our patients to review their dental insurance to be sure they don’t have unused dental benefits. It’s important to do this before the end of the year. Why, you ask? Here’s the answer!

Use Them or Lose Them

The phrase “use them or lose them” neatly sums up what happens with your dental benefits at the end of the year. Unfortunately, with most plans, whatever benefits you have left won’t roll over into the next calendar year. Depending on your situation, that could mean lots of “dental dollars” that disappear. Then you will have to meet your deductible again in 2022 to access the same amount. Put another way, if you want to get the most out of the insurance benefits you’ve been paying for throughout the year, then it’s wise to book that dental appointment you’ve been putting off.

How to Use Your Dental Benefits

If you’re ready to use up the rest of your dental benefits before they slip out of your grasp, here are some suggestions. Scheduling a dental cleaning if you’ve only received one this year, or none at all, is a no-brainer. This is because most of the time dental insurance plans cover two exams and hygiene cleanings a year. If you’ve already done that, you may want to consider getting a dental treatment you know you need or one you’ve been advised to get but just haven’t found the time to yet. When you look into the financials, it could be a significant difference in cost doing so now rather than waiting to do it in 2022.
